Paraguayan lawyer sentenced to 25 years in prison for infecting six women with HIV
As the Justice concluded, he had sex without a condom knowing that he was carrying the virus and even raped one of the victims.
A Paraguayan lawyer was sentenced this Thursday to 25 years in prison, after it was found that he infected at least six women with HIV with whom he had sex without a condom, without informing his potential partners that he was a carrier of the virus.
As the Public Ministry was able to reconstruct during the investigation prior to the oral trial, the lawyer, whose identity was not revealed, had full knowledge of his positive diagnosis .
Despite this, he contacted women through the social network Facebook, kept dates and formed couples. Once the bond was formalized, he had sex with them without any kind of care to avoid contagion.
According to the complaints filed since 2017, when this was noticed by the women he frequented, the man became upset and violent, and even sexually abused a girl who refused to have sex under those conditions.
The Paraguayan court found the lawyer guilty for the intentional infections, rape and sexual coercion. The defendant received a sentence of 15 years in prison and another 10 as a security measure, in addition to another three from a previous sentence, also for spreading the AIDS virus.

Un abogado paraguayo fue condenado este jueves a 25 años de prisión, luego de que se comprobara que contagió de VIH a al menos seis mujeres con las que mantuvo relaciones sexuales sin preservativo, sin informar a sus eventuales parejas que era portador del virus.
Según pudo reconstruir el Ministerio Público durante la investigación previa al juicio oral, el letrado, de quien no trascendió la identidad, tenía pleno conocimiento de su diagnóstico positivo.
A pesar de ello, contactaba con mujeres a través de la red social Facebook, mantenía citas y formaba parejas. Una vez formalizado el vínculo, se relacionaba sexualmente con ellas sin ningún tipo de cuidado para evitar el contagio.
De acuerdo a las denuncias presentadas desde 2017, cuando esto era advertido por las mujeres que frecuentaba, el hombre se molestaba y se ponía violento, e incluso llegó a abusar sexualmente de una chica que se negó a tener sexo en esas condiciones.
El tribunal paraguayo consideró al abogado culpable por los contagios intencionales,violación y coacción sexual. El acusado recibió una pena de 15 años de cárcel y otros 10 como medida de seguridad, que se suman a otros tres de una sentencia anterior, también por propagar el virus del sida.

Of the 12 women who claim to have maintained relations with the same man, only a few victims were encouraged to report the incident due to serious injury, because several were threatened with death.

Un abogado enjuiciado por transmitir el virus de inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) a su ex pareja fue sentenciado este viernes a tres años de prisión.
La investigación fiscal demostró que el abogado sabía de su diagnóstico positivo de VIH; sin embargo, siguió manteniendo relaciones sexuales con su ex pareja, sin protección alguna.
Los agentes fiscales Nathalia Silva y Sonia Mora, quienes representaron al Ministerio Público durante el juicio oral y público, solicitaron la pena de seis años de prisión por el hecho punible de lesión grave, en calidad de autor.
Sin embargo, el Tribunal de Sentencia que juzgó el caso aplicó una sentencia de tres años de cárcel para el profesional del Derecho.
El hombre enfrenta otras seis causas por los mismos hechos. Supuestamente, llegó a transmitir el virus a otras mujeres con las que mantuvo relaciones sexuales, luego de contactarlas a través de la red social Facebook.
De acuerdo con los datos de la Fiscalía sobre el modus operandi, el hombre les prometía una relación duradera, pero, posteriormente, las dejaba sin motivos convincentes y poco después las víctimas se enteraban de la situación.
El tribunal para el juicio oral estuvo conformado por los jueces Gloria Hermosa, en carácter de presidenta, Elio Ovelar y Víctor Alfieri, como miembros titulares.
El caso fue dado a conocer luego de que Última Hora revelara la denuncia de una de las víctimas, quien comentó que en el año 2010 inició una relación de noviazgo con el abogado, que duró aproximadamente cuatro años, y la mujer quedó embarazada. Al realizarse los estudios correspondientes, entre ellos la prueba de VIH, tuvo un resultado positivo.
De las 12 mujeres que aseguran haber mantenido relaciones con el mismo hombre, solo algunas víctimas se animaron a denunciar el hecho por lesión grave, debido a que varias fueron amenazadas de muerte.
HIV Case: Accused Trial Postponed

Para está mañana estaba fijado el inicio del juicio oral y público para el abogado acusado de transmitir el virus del sida a una mujer en el 2017, sin embargo, la fiscala Natalia Silva Esteche solicitó la suspensión del juzgamiento.
La agente indicó al Tribunal de Sentencia, que “la víctima el pasado 2 de abril dio a luz por parto cesárea por lo que se encuentra aún reposo, por lo que su comparecencia al juicio se ve imposibilitada y la misma es testigo fundamental en la causa”.
Los jueces, Gloria Hermosa, Elio Ovelar y Víctor Alfiero resolvieron fijar como nueva fecha el próximo 11 de junio a las 08:00 de la mañana, tiempo en que, estimaron, ya estará en condiciones de asistir a prestar declaración.
El caso saltó a la luz, en abril del 2017, cuando una mujer denunció que un hombre que se le presentó diciendo ser abogado inició una conversación a través de una red social con ella, hasta que se conocieron y tuvieron una relación, pero ella no se enteró hasta meses después de que su pareja tenía el virus del sida y que la contagió. A esta primera mujer se sumaron otras más que relataron el mismo modus operandi del abogado. El profesional se encuentra recluido en Tacumbú.

Todo se inició cuando una de las mujeres lo escrachó en redes sociales por incumplimiento de asistencia alimenticia. Ahí otras mujeres se dieron cuenta de que estaban pasando por lo mismo y formaron un grupo. Fue así que ellas se enteraron de que el hombre tenía VIH.

Dos mujeres radicaron una denuncia penal contra un abogado que les habría transmitido VIH intencionalmente. Otras 11 mujeres estarían en la misma situación, pero por distintas causas no se animan a denunciarlo.
Las dos mujeres que radicaron la denuncia penal aseguran haber contraído la enfermedad tras una relación con el abogado. Lo acusan de haberles transmitido el virus de forma intencional, por lo que lo denunciaron ante el Ministerio Público.
En total serían unas 13 las víctimas, todas ex parejas del hombre, quien las obligaba a no utilizar métodos anticonceptivos y les pedía tener hijos. En total, el hombre habría tenido unos 9 hijos con sus supuestas víctimas.
La abogada Mirna Morínigo señaló que anteriormente se radicó una denuncia formal contra el hombre, pero la víctima se vio obligada a retirar la demanda ante las constantes amenazas.
El caso está en manos de la Fiscalía que debe investigar si existió intención por parte del hombre, quien podría ser procesado por lesión grave, con una expectativa de pena de hasta 10 años de cárcel.
