Swindon man denies infecting three women with HIV
A TOOTHILL man denies recklessly infecting three women with HIV.
JR, 60, formerly of Luddesdown Road, appeared before Swindon magistrates this afternoon via video link.
He spoke only to confirm his name, address, date of birth, nationality and his not guilty pleas to three counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
It is alleged he infected three women with sexually-transmitted virus HIV between August 2015 and February 2017.
JR was remanded in custody to appear before Swindon Crown Court for a trial preparation hearing on November 1, 2019.

A man from Toothill in Swindon has been charged with contaminating three women with HIV. J.R., who is scheduled to appear before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, stands accused of three counts of grievous bodily harm against three women who have tested HIV positive. The 60-year-old is being detained at HMP Channings Wood – a Category C prison in Ogwell.
The crime of reckless HIV transmission is punishable by up to five years in prison in England and Wales.
Ian Harris, a senior lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Following a careful review of the evidence provided to me by Wiltshire Police I have authorised the police to charge J.R. with three offences of inflicting grievous bodily harm in relation to three women who have been infected with HIV.
