An HIV-positive man has been indicted in sexual assault cases, but detectives fear there could be more victims.

On May 1, Colerain Township police say they got a report that a 34-year-old man engaged in sexual activity.

X, who is HIV-positive, did not disclose his status to the victim, according to police.

After the case was assigned to detectives, police said X was arrested on July 14 for felonious assault.

Detectives later learned that he committed similar offenses against other victims, Colerain Township police said.

“Typically, they charge a person that has taken a test or knows for sure that they are HIV positive,” explained FOX19 NOW legal analyst Mark Krumbein. “I’m not suggesting that this person knew that, but the Colerain police must think that he did or must have believed they have some evidence that shows he did.”

X was out on bond when the additional charges were filed, police explained.

He was arrested on Aug. 6 with the help of the United States Marshals Service Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, according to police.
