On 30th October 2025, the Urgut District Court in Uzbekistan heard a case involving a man living with HIV who was accused of transmitting the virus to his partner. The defendant, who had been diagnosed several years earlier and was officially warned about potential criminal liability, was charged under Article 113(4) of the Criminal Code for alleged deliberate transmission.

During the hearing, the defendant fully admitted to knowing his HIV status and not disclosing it before entering into a relationship. The partner later tested HIV-positive. Both individuals were reportedly undergoing treatment and continued to live together. The partner stated in court that she had no legal complaint against him and requested leniency.

Taking into account his confession, remorse, family responsibilities, and the absence of aggravating factors, the court sentenced the defendant to four years of restricted liberty. He was required to remain under probation supervision, continue medical treatment, and comply with movement restrictions within his region.
