The Dushanbe police have reported the detention of ten suspects accused of infecting others with HIV
Since the start of 2026, ten people have been detained in Dushanbe on suspicion of deliberately infecting other citizens with HIV. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing data from the capital’s headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to law enforcement officials, more than 60 people were put at risk of infection as a result of the detainees’ actions. In a number of cases, people who were aware of their HIV-positive status engaged in sexual relations with other citizens without taking steps to prevent the transmission of the virus.
One of the cases cited by the police involved a 25-year-old woman from Dushanbe who, as the investigation established, had intimate relationships with more than 20 young men, putting them at risk of infection. Criminal cases have been opened against all the suspects under Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan (‘Infection with the human immunodeficiency virus’).
The investigation files have been forwarded to the court. If found guilty, the suspects face between three and ten years’ imprisonment.
The capital’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has urged citizens to take a responsible approach to their own health and that of those around them. The ministry noted that the mere fact of having HIV does not automatically pose a danger to others, as modern treatment methods can significantly reduce the risk of transmitting the virus.
Criminal liability arises only in cases where infected individuals, being aware of their status, deliberately infect or expose others to the risk of infection.

В Душанбе с начала 2026 года задержаны 10 человек по подозрению в умышленном заражении ВИЧ-инфекцией других граждан. Об этом сообщает РИА Новости со ссылкой на данные столичного главка МВД Таджикистана.
По информации правоохранителей, в результате действий задержанных риску заражения подверглись более 60 человек. В ряде случаев люди, знавшие о своем положительном ВИЧ-статусе, вступали в интимные отношения с другими гражданами, не предотвращая передачу вируса.
Одним из эпизодов, приведенных милицией, стало дело 25-летней жительницы Душанбе, которая, как установило следствие, имела интимные связи более чем с 20 молодыми людьми, подвергая их опасности заражения. В отношении всех подозреваемых возбуждены уголовные дела по статье 125 УК Таджикистана («Заражение вирусом иммунодефицита человека»).
Материалы следствия переданы в суд. В случае признания вины подозреваемым грозит от трех до десяти лет лишения свободы.
В столичном УМВД призвали граждан ответственно относиться к собственному здоровью и здоровью окружающих. В ведомстве отметили, что сам факт наличия ВИЧ-инфекции не означает автоматической опасности для окружающих, поскольку современные методы терапии позволяют существенно снизить риск передачи вируса.
Уголовная ответственность наступает лишь в случаях, когда инфицированные лица, осознавая свой статус, сознательно заражают или подвергают риску заражения других людей.
