The Dakar Summary Offences Court handed down its ruling on Wednesday regarding a man who was involved in legal proceedings involving several charges. Following the hearing, the court split the charges, issuing both a partial acquittal and a prison sentence.
According to reports by Kawtef, the defendant was on trial for the deliberate transmission of HIV and acts against nature. On the first charge, the judge acquitted him due to a lack of conclusive evidence. In the dock, the defendant stated that he was unaware of his HIV status prior to his arrest, claiming that he only discovered he was HIV-positive at the time of his arrest. However, the court found him guilty of unnatural acts and sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment.

Sur le premier chef d’inculpation, le juge a prononcé la relaxe en raison d’un manque de preuves probantes. À la barre, l’accusé a déclaré qu’il ignorait son statut sérologique avant son interpellation, affirmant avoir découvert sa séropositivité uniquement au moment de son arrestation. En revanche, le tribunal l’a déclaré coupable d’actes contre nature et l’a condamné à une peine de trois ans de prison ferme.
