Woman threw blood at police while stating she was HIV positive
A 39-year-old woman has admitted throwing her blood at police while stating she was HIV positive.
According to court papers, Leanne Morton also threw various household items towards officers – “to the danger of their lives” – and spat at them, while stating she had Hepatitis C.
It comes after emergency teams were called to a report of a disturbance in the Scottish Borders on May 26th.
A residential street in Newtown St Boswells was taped off as police in riot gear responded to an incident at a property there.
Morton also shouted and swore and made threats of violence to a woman at the same address, where she presented a knife.
She pled guilty to charges of culpable and reckless conduct and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner when she appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Monday).
She also admitted a third charge of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place – namely a knife, in the nearby Co-op store, on the same date.
Sentence has been deferred for background reports and Morton, who was described as a prisoner in Polmont but previously gave an address in Hawick, has been remanded in custody meantime.
The case will recall at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on August 11th.
