This case concerns a criminal judgment delivered by the Bektemir District Criminal Court in Tashkent involving a woman previously convicted of HIV-related offences and other crimes, who was again prosecuted under Article 113(4) of the Criminal Code for knowingly exposing multiple individuals to HIV infection.
The court found that the defendant, registered as HIV-positive since 2022 and formally warned by the AIDS Center about her legal obligations, engaged in repeated unprotected sexual relations in June 2025 with several individuals, including sex work encounters in different locations in Tashkent and surrounding districts. Evidence included her own admissions, witness statements, confrontation protocols, and medical records from the AIDS Center confirming her diagnosis and prior warnings.
Although the defendant partially confessed and expressed remorse, the court also identified aggravating circumstances, including repeat offending and selfish motives. It held that she knowingly placed others at risk of HIV infection under Article 113(4).
The court revoked a prior suspended sentence issued in October 2024, combined the unserved portion with the new conviction, and imposed a total sentence of five years and three months’ imprisonment in a general regime colony. She was taken into custody immediately in court. The victims confirmed they had no civil claims against her.
