Convicted of infecting his wife with HIV
The 2nd Criminal Judge of the Bogotá Circuit, with investigative functions, sentenced DJBL to 3 years and 4 months in prison for committing the crime of spreading the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
In his decision, the judge ordered the Prosecutor’s Office to initiate another investigation to establish whether there is a second victim, who would also have been infected by the convicted person.
For his part, Prosecutor 216 of the Special Unit for Sexual Crimes indicated that the man is responsible for the events that occurred since 2011, when his girlfriend decided to marry him.
In 2013, after presenting some ailments that forced her to undergo a series of tests, the results diagnosed her that she was a carrier of HIV.
According to what was established, the sentenced man had settled in the capital of the country after serving as a councilor for the municipality of San Bernardo del Viento (Córdoba), in 2007.
By accepting charges in the preliminary hearings, the convict received a conditional suspension of the sentence from the judge, who ordered a special follow-up in order to prevent his actions from infecting more people.

El Juez 2° Penal del Circuito de Bogotá, con funciones de conocimiento, condenó a 3 años y 4 meses de prisión a D.J.B.L., por incurrir en el delito de propagación del virus de inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH).
En su decisión el juez ordenó a la Fiscalía iniciar otra investigación para establecer si existe una segunda víctima, quien también habría sido contagiada por el sentenciado.
Por su parte el Fiscal 216 de la Unidad Especial de Delitos Sexuales indicó que el hombre es responsable de los hechos que se presentaron desde 2011, cuando su novia decidió contraer matrimonio él.
En 2013, tras presentar algunas dolencias que le obligaron a practicarse una serie de exámenes, los resultados le diagnosticaron a ella que era portadora del VIH.
Según se estableció, el sentenciado se había radicado en la capital del país luego de desempeñarse como concejal del municipio de San Bernardo del Viento (Córdoba), en 2007.
Al aceptar cargos en las audiencias preliminares, el condenado recibió por parte del juzgador la suspensión condicional de la pena, quien ordenó un seguimiento especial a fin de evitar que con su accionar contagie a más personas.
