A Nizhny Novgorod resident could not appeal the verdict for an attempt to infect a police officer with HIV
The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court did not change the sentence of a local resident who was previously convicted of robbery, attacking a police officer and creating a threat of HIV infection. The appeals of the convict and his lawyer were left unsatisfied. This was reported in the press service of the regional court.
The decision came into force immediately after the announcement – on March 3, 2026.
Earlier, the Kanavinsky District Court sentenced the man to 4 years and 6 months in a general regime colony. According to the case materials, on the afternoon of June 27, 2025, he took five bottles of cognac out of the store without paying for them. In the evening of the same day, he was noticed again in the same store. During the detention, he hit a police officer with a used needle from a syringe. At the same time, the man knew that he had HIV and was obliged to observe precautions. The court considered that by such actions he created a real threat of infection.

Нижегородский областной суд не стал менять приговор местному жителю, которого ранее осудили за грабеж, нападение на сотрудницу полиции и создание угрозы заражения ВИЧ. Апелляционные жалобы осужденного и его адвоката оставили без удовлетворения. Об этом сообщили в пресс-службе облсуда.
Решение вступило в силу сразу после оглашения — 3 марта 2026 года.
Ранее Канавинский районный суд приговорил мужчину к 4 годам и 6 месяцам колонии общего режима. По материалам дела, днем 27 июня 2025 года он вынес из магазина пять бутылок коньяка, не заплатив за них. Вечером того же дня его снова заметили в этом же магазине. Во время задержания он ударил сотрудницу полиции использованной иглой от шприца. При этом мужчина знал, что у него ВИЧ, и обязан был соблюдать меры предосторожности. Суд посчитал, что такими действиями он создал реальную угрозу заражения.
A Nizhny Novgorod man was given 4.5 years for robbing and trying to infect a police officer with HIV
The Kanavinsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod sentenced a citizen accused of robbery and attempting to infect a police officer with HIV infection for 4.5 years in a general regime colony. This was reported in court on November 6.
The defendant was tried under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: Part 1 of Article 161 (robbery), Part 1 of Article 318 (use of violence against a representative of the authorities) and Part 1 of Article 122 (deliberly putting another person at risk of HIV infection).
It was established that on the afternoon of June 27, 2025, the defendant openly stole five bottles of cognac from the store counter and fled. In the evening of the same day, he was detained by the police in the sales hall of this store.
Then, near the company car, he stuck a metal syringe needle he had with him in the shoulder of the police officer. At the same time, the defendant reliably knew about the presence of HIV infection and the need to comply with sanitary and hygienic rules. By his deliberate actions, the defendant inflicted a stab wound on the victim’s shoulder blade and knowingly put her in real danger of HIV infection, the court said in a statement.

Канавинский райсуд Нижнего Новгорода назначил 4,5 года колонии общего режима гражданину, обвиненному в грабеже и попытке заражения сотрудницы полиции ВИЧ-инфекцией. Об этом сообщили в суде 6 ноября.
Фигуранта судили по трем статьям УК РФ: ч. 1 ст. 161 (грабеж), ч. 1 ст. 318 (применение насилия в отношении представителя власти) и ч. 1 ст. 122 (заведомое поставление другого лица в опасность заражения ВИЧ-инфекцией).
Установлено, что днем 27 июня 2025 года подсудимый открыто похитил с прилавка магазина пять бутылок коньяка и скрылся. Вечером того же дня его задержали полицейские в торговом зале этого магазина.
Затем около служебного автомобиля он воткнул в плечо сотрудницы полиции имевшуюся при себе металлическую иглу от шприца. При этом подсудимый достоверно знал о наличии у себя ВИЧ-инфекции и необходимости соблюдения санитарно-гигиенических правил. Своими умышленными действиями фигурант причинил потерпевшей колотую рану лопатки и заведомо поставил ее в реальную опасность заражения ВИЧ-инфекцией, говорится в сообщении суда.
