On August 13, 2026, the Bostanlyk District Court examined a case involved criminal charges brought against the defendant under Article 113, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The court established that the defendant was placed on the medical register at the Tashkent Regional AIDS Center on July 24, 2024, and was legally warned about his HIV-positive status, the prohibition of unprotected intercourse, and the criminal liability for transmitting the infection. Between July 2024 and August 2025, while residing at the home of the first victim, the defendant repeatedly engaged in unprotected sexual relations with both the first victim and her daughter-in-law (the second victim) without disclosing his medical status.
Consequently, both victims contracted HIV and were placed on the medical register at the Tashkent Regional AIDS Center on August 22, 2025. In court, the defendant pled partially guilty, stating he had informed the victims of his status in July 2025 and mistakenly believed that his ongoing antiretroviral medication prevented viral transmission. Testimony from an infectious disease specialist confirmed that the defendant had been registered and counselled on preventative protocols in July 2024, shortly after a prior domestic partner had also been registered. Both victims testified that they were unaware of the defendant’s illness until July 2025 and that their subsequent medical tests confirmed transmission, whereas the second victim’s husband tested negative.
The Bostanlyk District Court found the defendant guilty of committing the crime specified under Article 113, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Applying Article 57 of the Criminal Code (mitigating circumstances based on family status and lack of prior convictions), the court sentenced the defendant to 3 years of imprisonment in a general-regime colony.
