Grayson County Jail inmate who tested positive for HIV charged with assault after allegedly spitting on detention officer.

A Grayson County Jail inmate is facing an assault charge after he allegedly spat on a detention officer.

According to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, the man allegedly spat on a detention officer who was walking out of the cell during a routine morning walkthrough in September.

Jail medical staff confirmed that he was allegedly aware that he is HIV-positive. The officer who was spat on was sent to be medically evaluated and treated as a precaution.

He is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and harassment by a person in a correctional facility.
