According to HJN monitoring data, since early February authorities in Senegal have arrested 28 individuals on allegations of “acts against nature” and “voluntary HIV transmission”. Newspapers’ reports indicate that the people arrested were subjected to HIV testing and personal information, such as their HIV-status and names, was subsequently reported in the media.
At the same time, the Senegalese government has approved a draft amendment to the Penal Code that increases penalties related to same-sex conduct and extends criminal liability to forms of advocacy and financial support perceived as supporting LGBT people. The bill will now follow the ordinary legislative procedure.
A detailed chronology of arrests since 4 February is set out below, with identifying information removed.

Man arrested in the Kaolack region, as part of homosexual and HIV transmission case - February 20
A famous tiktoker was arrested on Friday evening a little before 10 p.m. in Nioro du Rip, in the Kaolack region, as part of the so-called alleged homosexual case, thus bringing to 21 the number of suspects arrested since the outbreak of this file.
The man, subject to a notice of search and arrest by the Keur Massar brigade as part of the investigation for association of criminals, acts against nature with transmission of HIV/AIDS and endangering the lives of others, was apprehended by the gendarmes of Nioro, more precisely in the Nouroulaye district.
At the time these lines are written (11:40 p.m.), it is still in their hands.
The defendant should be transferred in the next few hours to Keur Massar for the purposes of the investigation, the sources say.
Note that earlier in the day, another suspect was arrested in Thiès, and already taken to the Keur Massar search brigade where he is placed in police custody.
The investigation continues to shed light on this case that has already led to the arrest of several people
Un célèbre tiktokeur, a été interpellé vendredi soir un peu avant 22h à Nioro du Rip, dans la région de Kaolack, dans le cadre de l’affaire dite des présumés homosexuels, portant ainsi à 21 le nombre de suspects arrêtés depuis l’éclatement de ce dossier.
L’homme, faisant l’objet d’un avis de recherches et d’arrestation de la brigade de Keur Massar dans le cadre de l’enquête pour association de malfaiteurs, actes contre nature avec transmission du Vih/Sida et mise en danger de la vie d’autrui, a été appréhendé par les gendarmes de Nioro, plus précisément au quartier Nouroulaye.
Au moment où ces lignes sont écrites (23h 40), il se trouve toujours entre leurs mains.
Le mis en cause devrait être transféré dans les prochaines heures à Keur Massar pour les besoins de l’enquête, précisent les sources.
À noter qu’un peu plus tôt dans la journée, un autre suspect a été arrêté à Thiès, et déjà conduit à la brigade de recherche de Keur Massar où il est placé en garde à vue.

The National Gendarmerie, under the command of General Martin Faye, relentlessly continues the investigations to get their hands on all members of the vast network of alleged homosexuals dismantled by the Keur Massar Research Brigade.
It was as part of this respiteless hunt that the gendarmes of the Thiès Research Brigade arrested a 20th suspect this Friday morning, according to exclusive information from Seneweb.
The man, married and from Pout, was taken under good escort to the Keur Massar BR, where he was placed in police custody.
He is the second person arrested in the City of Rail. Last Tuesday, the BR of Thiès arrested a person suspected of being HIV positive and working in a place receiving the public. The next day (Wednesday), he was transferred to Dakar.
His arrest came just a few days after his marriage.

L’homme, marié et originaire de Pout, a été conduit sous bonne escorte à la BR de Keur Massar, où il a été placé en garde à vue.
Il est la deuxième personne arrêtée dans la cité du Rail. Mardi dernier, la BR de Thiès avait interpellé un suspect séropositif et travaillant dans un endroit recevant du public. Le lendemain ( mercredi) , il a été transféré à Dakar.
Son arrestation est intervenue quelques jours seulement après son mariage.
Arrest toll grows with one more individual aprehended in Tivaouane - Febrary 18
An individual was arrested on Wednesday, February 18 by the Tivaouane Urban Police Station, for possession of images contrary to morality and practice of acts against nature. According to a police note published on Thursday, the defendant was placed in police custody for the rest of the proceedings.
On February 18, 2026, at about 2:30 a.m., two men took an individual apprehended to the Darou Salam district to the Tivaouane Urban Police Station. The latter, according to the Police, accuse him of having requested an unnatural sexual intercourse with one of them.
Thus, a ploy put in place by the two complainants made it possible to surprise the defendant in his room.
“During his interrogation, the person concerned confessed. He confirmed his sexual orientation, specifying that he has been engaged in these practices since he was young. He also admitted to having had sex with other men and acknowledged holding intimate video calls,” reports the Senegalese police.
According to the same source, the exploitation of the suspect’s mobile phone, carried out with his consent, revealed the presence of video sequences and obscene images illustrating sexual acts between individuals of the same sex.
Moreover, a raid on his home in the Darou Salam district of Tivaouane allowed the seizure of a batch of compromising equipment. These are condoms and lubricants; massage oils and aphrodisiac products. But also various accessories such as crystal beads, specific ointments, depilatory cream and hygiene equipment.

Selon une note de la Police publiée jeudi, le mis en cause a été placé en garde à vue pour la suite de la procédure.
Le 18 février 2026, aux environs de 02 heures 30 minutes, deux hommes ont conduit au Commissariat urbain de Tivaouane un individu appréhendé au quartier Darou Salam. Ces derniers, selon la Police, lui reprochent d’avoir sollicité un rapport sexuel contre nature auprès de l’un d’entre eux.
Ainsi, un stratagème mis en place par les deux plaignants a permis de surprendre le mis en cause dans sa chambre.
« Lors de son interrogatoire, l’intéressé est passé aux aveux. Il a confirmé son orientation sexuelle, précisant s’adonner à ces pratiques depuis son jeune âge. Il a également admis avoir entretenu des rapports sexuels avec d’autres hommes et reconnu la tenue d’appels vidéo à caractère intime », rapporte la police sénégalaise.
D’après la même source, l’exploitation du téléphone portable du suspect, réalisée avec son consentement, a révélé la présence de séquences vidéo et d’images obscènes illustrant des actes sexuels entre individus de même sexe.
D’ailleurs, une descente effectuée à son domicile sis au quartier Darou Salam de Tivaouane a permis la saisie d’un lot de matériel compromettant. Il s’agit de préservatifs et lubrifiants; d’huiles de massage et de produits aphrodisiaques. Mais aussi des accessoires divers tels que des perles en cristal, des pommades spécifiques, de la crème dépilatoire et du matériel d’hygiène.
Two new arrests by the Keur Massar Brigade - February 18
The Keur Massar Company’s Research Brigade has made new arrests as part of the execution of a judicial delegation relating to an investigation into a network of alleged homosexuals.
After the arrest on Tuesday of a journalist, the gendarmes arrested two other suspects on Wednesday, thus continuing the operations undertaken in this case. Since the investigation was launched, a total of 19 people have been arrested on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
The investigations are continuing under the direction of the competent judicial authorities, and further arrests are announced as part of the ongoing proceedings.
La Brigade de Recherches de la Compagnie de Keur Massar a procédé à de nouvelles interpellations dans le cadre de l’exécution d’une délégation judiciaire relative à une enquête sur un réseau de présumés homosexuels.
Après l’arrestation, mardi, d’un journaliste, les gendarmes ont interpellé ce mercredi deux autres suspects, poursuivant ainsi les opérations engagées dans cette affaire. Depuis le déclenchement de l’enquête, un total de 19 personnes ont été arrêtées à la date du mercredi 18 février 2026.

Journalist arrested as part of the HIV criminalisation cases - February 17
The arrest of a well known RTS journalist as part of the investigation into an alleged HIV/AIDS voluntary transmission network, highlights the legal complexity of this case. The investigation has already led to the arrest of 17 people, including 12 HIV-positive.
L’interpellation d’un journaliste de la RTS, dans le cadre de l’enquête sur un réseau présumé de transmission volontaire du VIH/Sida, met en lumière la complexité juridique de cette affaire. L’enquête, a déjà conduit à l’arrestation de 17 personnes, dont 12 personnes séropositives.
One individual arrested by the Saly Criminal Investigation Brigade - February 15
In this case, Seneweb exclusively announced this afternoon the arrest of businessman IM Seck by the Saly Criminal Investigation Brigade. He was transferred to Dakar under heavy guard.
In total, 16 suspected members of this network were arrested by the national gendarmerie in this case of unnatural acts and voluntary transmission of HIV.
Three more individuals arrested by the Keur Massar Brigade - February 14
The Keur Massar Research Brigade arrested three new people as part of the investigation into the so-called “homosexual” case. The operation follows court instructions targeting an individual already in custody.
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, the latter was extracted from the Rebeuss House of Arrest and Correction in order to allow the continuation of the investigations. According to the evidence gathered by the investigators, evidence was gathered to establish his alleged involvement in the alleged facts.
Heard by the gendarmes, the defendant said he had had had unprotected sexual relations with several partners since 2021. A medical requisition addressed to the Keur Massar Health Center also confirmed his HIV positivity.
In the continuity of the investigation, three other individuals were arrested. They are prosecuted in particular for association of criminals, voluntary transmission of HIV/AIDS, endangering the lives of others, money laundering and complicity in the offer or sale of drugs. According to the information in the investigation, the people arrested admitted to having had unprotected sex with several partners.

La Brigade de Recherches de Keur Massar a procédé à l’interpellation de nouvelles personnes dans le cadre de l’enquête liée à l’affaire dite des « homosexuels ». L’opération fait suite à des instructions judiciaires visant un individu déjà placé en détention.
Le samedi 14 février 2026, ce dernier a été extrait de la Maison d’Arrêt et de Correction de Rebeuss afin de permettre la poursuite des investigations. Selon les éléments recueillis par les enquêteurs, des preuves ont été réunies pour établir son implication présumée dans les faits reprochés.
Entendu par les gendarmes, le mis en cause a déclaré avoir entretenu, depuis 2021, des relations sexuelles non protégées avec plusieurs partenaires. Une réquisition médicale adressée au Centre de santé de Keur Massar a, par ailleurs, confirmé sa séropositivité.
Dans la continuité de l’enquête, trois autres individus ont été interpellés. Ils sont poursuivis notamment pour association de malfaiteurs, transmission volontaire du VIH/Sida, mise en danger de la vie d’autrui, blanchiment de capitaux et complicité d’offre ou de cession de drogue. Selon les informations de l’enquête, les personnes arrêtées ont reconnu avoir eu des rapports sexuels non protégés avec plusieurs partenaires.
Les investigations se poursuivent afin d’identifier d’éventuels autres individus impliqués dans cette affaire.
5 people arrested by the Touba Research Brigade - February 12
The Touba Research Brigade, a unit attached to the Touba Gendarmerie Company and under the Thiès Gendarmerie Legion, conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of five homosexuals between Touba and Mbacké on Thursday, February 12.
The arrests were made following investigations conducted by brigade investigators. Among the people arrested is an individual presented as a carrier of the HIV/AIDS virus, according to seneweb. According to the same sources, searches were carried out as part of this operation. Condoms and lubricant were seized during the excavations. The first suspect, aged 36, was arrested in Touba. The continuation of the investigation led to the arrest of four other people in Mbacké. A fifth individual was also arrested by the elements of the brigade.
According to the information provided, the defendants would have acknowledged the facts of which they are accused during their hearing. Elements deemed compromising were also discovered by investigators. The five suspects were taken into custody. They are being prosecuted for association of criminals, unnatural acts, endangering the lives of others – including for alleged voluntary transmission of HIV – as well as other counts.
La Brigade de Recherches de Touba, unité rattachée à la Compagnie de gendarmerie de Touba et relevant de la Légion de gendarmerie de Thiès, a mené une opération ayant abouti à l’interpellation de cinq homosexuels entre Touba et Mbacké, le jeudi 12 février.
Les arrestations sont intervenues à la suite d’investigations conduites par les enquêteurs de la brigade. Parmi les personnes interpellées figure un individu présenté comme porteur du virus du VIH/Sida, selon seneweb. D’après les mêmes sources, des perquisitions ont été effectuées dans le cadre de cette opération. Des préservatifs et du lubrifiant auraient été saisis au cours des fouilles. Le premier suspect âgé de 36 ans, a été arrêté à Touba. La poursuite de l’enquête a conduit à l’interpellation de quatre autres personnes à Mbacké. Un cinquième individu a également été arrêté par les éléments de la brigade.
Selon les informations communiquées, les mis en cause auraient reconnu les faits qui leur sont reprochés au cours de leur audition. Des éléments jugés compromettants auraient également été découverts par les enquêteurs. Les cinq suspects ont été placés en garde à vue. Ils sont poursuivis pour association de malfaiteurs, actes contre nature, mise en danger de la vie d’autrui — notamment pour transmission volontaire présumée du VIH — ainsi que pour d’autres chefs d’accusation.
The Keur Massar Research Brigade arrests twelve people or homosexuality and alleged HIV exposure
The Research Brigade of the Gendarmerie Company of Keur Massar proceeded, on February 4, 5 and 6, 2026, to place in police custody of twelve (12) people of Senegalese nationality. They are prosecuted for association of criminals, unnatural act with voluntary transmission of HIV/AIDS through unprotected sexual intercourse and endangering the lives of others.
These arrests are part of an investigation opened following information of facts likely to constitute criminal offences. The three-day operations allowed investigators to identify and apprehend the various suspects.
The twelve suspects are currently being held at the premises of the Keur Massar Research Brigade for the purposes of the investigation. Hearings continue in order to determine individual responsibilities and to establish the facts with precision.
The investigation is conducted under the supervision of Prosecutor Saliou Dicko, head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor’s office. The judicial authorities intend, according to sources close to the case, to shed light on this case and, if necessary, dismantle the entire alleged network. At this stage of the proceedings, no court decision has yet been rendered.

Les autorités judiciaires entendent, selon des sources proches du dossier, faire toute la lumière sur cette affaire et, le cas échéant, démanteler l’ensemble du réseau présumé. À ce stade de la procédure, aucune décision de justice n’a encore été rendue.
